Allowing yourself to worry excessively is not healthy and it does not solve your problems.
It will only lead to health problems and if you really think about it, the majority of what we worry about never comes true! So all of the excess worries are usually for nothing!
Ask yourself the following:
How can it be avoided? Here is where you need to problem solve!
What’s the worst case scenario?
Remind yourself of the price you pay for worry
Get the facts: I have saved myself from needless worrying when I try to find out more information. Maybe you just heard some bad news from the Dr., get the full story first before you put yourself over the edge with each horrible scenario. It might not be as bad as you think.
Weigh the facts, then decide
Act on it, make a plan to see what parts you can control
Don’t let the little things to ruin your life, its particularly hard when many "little things" come at us at once, but they just aren't worth our energy
Use the law of averages: what are the odds of this happening, use your rational brain, don't focus only on the emotions involved
Decide how much anxiety the issue is worth
Find ways to relax that work for you, this may take some trial and error but you need down time for your mental health
Keep balance in your life, you need time for work, time to rest, time for fun every week!
You can only solve one problem at a time, remember to prioritize! When you try to do everything at once the quality suffers and you are more stressed out! Take it step by step. This is hard for those of us who are "big picture" people but it will save you in the long run.
Not everything in life is enjoyable but necessary, meaning they are a part of us and they get us where we want to go. I hate doing dishes but I don't want a dirty kitchen so I force myself to get it done!
